During the first half of the Seth Administration, I had exclusive read-only FTP access to the entire server due to my officially delegated position as the server's archivist. This allowed me to download and make archival backups of practically everything from the server. I could not make changes (yet), but I could still download the files to my computer. Every month or two, I would selectively download worlds, plugins, server logs, and schematics to my computer using FTP and store them on a drive dedicated to all things TF.
I ended up making several backups of the Flatlands during a time when they would be wiped semi-frequently. Today, I am releasing every single backup I made of this world (going as far back as April 2019 and as new as February 2020) to the public. These are not all of the iterations of the world by any means, there are probably thousands that never got preserved or saved, but I'd argue that it's better than nothing.
With these now released, here is a bit of a Q&A:

Date | Download Link | Compressed Size | Notes (if any) |
---|---|---|---|
April 17, 2019 | Click here | ~212 MB | |
May 30, 2019 | Click here | ~896.8 MB | Includes some structures generated using structure blocks, which probably weren't supposed to be enabled |
June 10, 2019 | Click here | ~259.2 MB | Ditto |
June 23-24, 2019 | Click here for both versions | ~911.6 MB (June 23) ~1.8 GB (June 24) | The ZIP file dated June 24 has slightly more up to date region data. Neither contain a level.dat, though. |
July 7, 2019 | Click here | ~341.8 MB | Incomplete, missing level.dat |
August 26, 2019 | Click here | ~50.7 MB | |
October 17, 2019 | Click here | ~227.8 MB | |
December 13, 2019 | Click here | ~45.4 MB | |
January 5, 2020 | Click here for both versions | ~85.4 MB ~206.6 MB (gay version) | No clue why there's a "gay" version. I guess I called borked versions of the Flatlands just "flatlands-gay". |
February 24, 2020 | Click here | ~124.4 MB | Only exists as a backup of "flatlands-gay". |
With these now released, here is a bit of a Q&A:
- Q: Do you have any warps or homes from around the same time?
A: Only a little bit and only for select backups. I will not be publicly releasing such data as they contain players' IP addresses. Warp data is pending consideration, however.
- Q: Do any of these include player data?
A: No, I checked. The server never stored player data in the flatlands. I do have some backups of the overworld from around the same time which contain player data. I am considering uploading those backups tomorrow, but it may take more time due to their larger file sizes.
- Q: Do you have any other worlds that have yet to be archived?
A: Yes. These will be uploaded in the near future. I have no exact priorities as for when and what will be uploaded first aside from getting the overworld over with, since it contains player data that people might want to have.
- Q: Why did it take so long for these to get released?
A: I've honestly got no idea. Unlike the other worlds like the post-2020 flatlands or any other non-purgable worlds (where Ryan would have my head above his fireplace if I released them while the server was still up), I don't see a reason why not to release them. I might have figured that nobody would actually be interested in these since the flatlands was considered disposable until 2020, so I never got around to it. Since I am working on contributing to the TotalFreedom Wiki, I figured I might as well release them anyways just for the sake of not hoarding such data.
