In February 2019, Seth added PlotSquared to the server. For many people, this was a game-changer as it was the first time the public had full access to a persistent world that was immune to the traditionally frequent world wipes, though that didn't mean it wasn't wiped ever (as it was on a few occasions). Regardless, there was finally a way to build a long-term project on the server without becoming an administrator or having to figure out how to save WorldEdit schematics. For the next 4 years, the world became a pillar of the server that lasted until its closure in August 2023. Naturally, it was backed up quite a bit during the Seth administration. Today, I'm releasing every backup I'm aware of for this world starting in May 2019 and ending in October 2020. Here's some answers to any potential questions you may have:
- Q: Do you have any PlotSquared data to go along with these backups?
A: Only for a few of them, but chances are the data I do have could be applied to multiple different backups. I don't plan on publicly releasing this data at this moment in time due to possible privacy issues, but I might sometime in the future should it be necessary.
- Q: Were there any backups made between October 2020 and August 2023?
A: I actually don't know. At some point during the Ryan administration's run, we stopped being able to perform complete backups of the server itself due to the rapidly growing file size of the server. Although I had obtained file access to the server beginning in early 2022, I refrained from actually downloading any server data that wasn't explicitly necessary because I didn't want to trigger any alarms that Ryan may have set to discourage personal archiving. He had previously indirectly threatened me with sanctions if I scraped the server logs, and I really didn't feel like testing him with the server worlds. With that being said, it is still possible that some backups were made and preserved by other individuals, as we did at some point migrate servers for Freedom-01 to at least keep the lights running for a little bit longer. If they do exist, I don't have them.
- Q: What worlds do you plan to upload and archive next?
A: The Hubworld, Masterbuilderworld, Nether, and End are planned to be uploaded next. After that, it'll then be a matter of looking for missing iterations, template worlds, or worlds I may have otherwise missed. I also plan to publicize certain worlds belonging to development servers. That's a topic for another day, though.
