2. What did they do?
Hyly is a serial griefer, for probably more than 15 times. They have done some very bad destruction to NBT and get the "funny treatment" from every admin, and have never gotten a genuine punishment. Lots of signs, shulkers, item frames of any kind and way more. They use a VPN every time they log on so it's quite hard to ban all of them. They have a very, very tall punishment log and are for some reason still not LBR'd.
3. What indefinitely bannable offense does this fall under according to the community guidelines?
I fucking hate the current rules.
- Griefing (serial griefing)
- Trolling
4. Add logs and/or screenshots of the occurrence here, and tag any witnessing staff. Evidence of previous offenses that are not the direct cause of this request can also be added here.
Pretty much everyone has witnessed but haven't taken any action whatsoever.

I am very sure there are way more punishment logs but I have no idea where they all are. I'm getting this from the httpd.

6 months. Everyone's builds are getting destroyed, this is fair.

They only have like 1 entry in the punishment log currently. The other entries you included were of his account which you performed to prevent them from logging in under the other accounts.

He was but was unbanned in April 2023 as part of the mass unban wave that occurred.

Vouch for indefinite length, hyly / afterimg / whatever is not welcome by me anymore after seeing they ruined some head and sign boards in certain warps beyond repair.

They were, and then it expired. It was indefinite but following the introduction of Long-Term Bans, it had an expiry set to the pre-determined date in the announcement that all non-unappealable indefinite bans were to expire on. It's also worth noting they go by the img0/afterimg alias as well, although it is unknown if they have joined with that identity.

Here's the original ban request.

I Vouch. Make it indefinite. This user has been walking on eggshells for a while (particularly to avoid punishment and fuck with admins) and recently got banned again for griefing.

This player also seems to exhibit extreme amounts of pettiness and disdain (with no justification) for specifically 97 and I for no reason.

Yes they have, Video can confirm, I remember img telling me, after spilling the bean about hyly, that my obsession with toilets (I have to clarify it was supposed to be an in character silliness) was weird... I didn't remind them hyly pretended(?) to be aroused when I jokingly joined TF with Erin's She-Hulk skin.
 
I'm legitimately confused why we're going with an indefinite ban instead of a traditional 6 months. Indefinite bans should only be reserved for next to the absolute worst case scenarios. What justifies an outright indefinite ban in this?

For me, it's because this isn't their first rodeo. They know what they're doing, they know what they do cause irreversible damage to some people's creations, they do it for the lulz and they've done it before multiple times and got long bans for that.

They had their chance to play nice.

Let the community decide if they can come back on the game server, after a minimum ban duration, with a ban release request.

no. indefinite is for if someone crashed the server on 50 different alts multiple times without remorse. not irreversible damage to builds. sure, hyly's very bad and has turned into a monster but we are not making this indefinite. i vouch to myself for 6 months, no less no more

I'm not asking for an unappealable ban. What I'm asking is that they have to go through the effort to file for an unban that'll go through the community feedback like a normal appeal. Just like the old fashioned IBR. I'm not willing to give more showtime to somebody that upsets people just for attention seeking.

We have banned people for causing irreversible damage to builds with no expiry in the past. These can be appealed like any other ban. Indefinite bans aren't all just unappealable. Unappealable bans are given out after discussion and approval by all the executives.
 
I heavily vouch for the six months for mass griefing and trolling, I do not think indefinite is warranted in any case presented here personally but this is just my opinion. Additionally, I do think indefinite with chance to appeal is the best course if the indefinite path were to be chosen and there should be no reason to why they should be barred from being able to appeal this ban in the future.
 
Approved, and the ban has been upgraded to an unappealable, all-platform ban after a discussion amongst the Executive Team.

Today, on 2/11/2024 at 1:11 AM, EST., hyly proceeded to royally fuck up world saving in flatlands and lag the server by spam-pasting chests with high volumes of NBT using two accounts (hyly and TotalFreedomer). This also had a consequence of overinflating the coreprotect database as well and cause the server to be taken offline to restore the worlds from a backup.
