Reason behind killing the CEO of UnitedHealthcare?

I believe it was because the person disliked him or a decision he made

I think he was on the hook for insider trading.

Oh well, I hope his insurance covers it.

The shooter was probably one of thousands if not millions who either got screwed over themselves or had a family member get screwed over by the company because it wrongfully denied a claim they needed. UnitedHealth had a controversy last year where they allegedly used AI with a "90% error rate" to determine whether or not people should be covered for care they needed, so it's not out of the question for someone with a personal vendetta to take it out on the man who represents the corporation they hate the most.

I'm really having trouble feeling any sort of sympathy for the CEO, definitely his family because it's always devastating to lose someone like that, but not him personally. If we see more examples of societal punishment in this sector for corporate greed in this caliber, I think it would really shift the mindset of those who think trading lives for profits is a worthwhile gamble if it means risking getting shot in the populated streets of New York in broad daylight and then getting shat on by the majority of society postmortem.

Unfortunately, my condolences for him are out of network.

Insurance won't cover the CEO of UHC because lead poisoning is considered a pre-existing condition.

Truly, thoughts and deductibles to him and his family.

All jokes aside, it really is fucked to see people celebrating murder. No one should be the judge of who gets to live or die. That's up to decide by AI and algorithms designed to maximize profit.

My sympathy requires prior authorization. Claim denied.

It's not right to laugh when someone has to suffer from serious harm. Instead the right thing to do is charge them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The media's reaction

Something I find notable enough to document here is the media circus' reaction to the situation as it unfolded. This situation was a unifying moment for everyone on the political spectrum because everyone was celebrating (or at the very least showed an embittered indifference towards) Thompson's pre-existing condition of dying because of their universal spite for the American healthcare industry, and yet certain sore thumbs decided to stick up for the poor innocent CEOs. How dare we, the common American citizens, root for the guy who reminded greedy parasite executives that playing God has mortal consequences!

The New York Post interpreted the comments showing universal spite towards Thompson and the company he represents as "vile messages" posted by "internet trolls" and posted a video calling reactions like ours "alarming" and "sick". You know what is more alarming and sick? The fact that our lives are constantly being put at the mercy of corporations who use AI to deny claims or do everything they can to fuck us over so that their executives can afford an extra yacht.

Other mainstream media companies saw what happened and the reaction and like the executives who understandably fear for their lives, completely misinterpreted the message clearly sent here. They see it as "oh, we just need to protect our CEOs more", and they are sort of right. However, that's not the point. There wouldn't be such a need for massively increased security if you didn't give people a good reason to put a bullet in your head, retard. A foreign concept, I know, but experts say that not fucking a lot of people over for your own benefit reduces the risks of dying by a significant amount. Crazy, right? Now, you owe me $20,000 for my expert analysis, as it's out of network and an unnecessary procedure. Sorry!
Some are also trying to mystify the situation for extra clicks. They're trying to get "experts" in to explain the meaning of the bullets or who could have possibly done it like as if they're an English teacher trying to explain why the curtains are green. Retard, it's not that hard to put two and two together. The CEO was part of a health insurance company known for fucking people over for a profit, the bullets had text on them that referenced a book criticizing the health insurance industry, and the backpack the guy had Monopoly money either mocking the riches of the company or probably referencing their anti-trust shenanigans with the government. If it didn't have a reason, it wouldn't be there. It's not fucking rocket science.

The suspect has been arrested

The shooter is said to have been been caught. His name is Luigi Mangione, and he was arrested today after a McDonald's employee in Altoona, PA recognized him and reported him to the local police. He has been charged with the usual: carrying a gun without a license, forgery, falsely identifying himself to the police, "possessing instruments of crime", and murder. Police suspect that he 3D printed his gun as well.

A little known fact is that Mangione smoked Thompson in the eyebrow game as well

A lot of information is coming out about him and his online footprint is currently being unearthed and examined by online sleuths across multiple different platforms. His Twitter account, which had its last public interaction on June 10, discusses a variety of different topics including politics, drugs, and society and interestingly has a picture of a fucked up spine on his banner. It's still not entirely sure what motivated him exactly but I'm standing by my guess outlined above given what we know:

The shooter was probably one of thousands if not millions who either got screwed over themselves or had a family member get screwed over by the company because it wrongfully denied a claim they needed. UnitedHealth had a controversy last year where they allegedly used AI with a "90% error rate" to determine whether or not people should be covered for care they needed, so it's not out of the question for someone with a personal vendetta to take it out on the man who represents the corporation they hate the most.

It lines up. There were bullet casings at the scene allegedly saying "Delay", "Deny", and "Depose", a reference to a book criticizing the entire healthcare system. He clearly has had some recent skirmishes with the healthcare system given his spine is fucked up. Of course he'd be pissed about it.

Turns out he was your average right wing STEM podcast guy who got radicalized by his own experiences with the healthcare industry- goes to show the difference between right wing politicians and their voters. When they realize that the right has never done anything for them, it's over for Trump and his corporate puppet party affectionately known as the "Republicans"

do you think i'm defending the CEO here lmfao? no i think it's great that he died, i'm just saying that people will see right wing politicians defending the CEO and get turned away from them.

werent they expressing condolences to their family or something

Ada is correct on the very specific point that certain conservative content creators like Ben Shapiro were defending the CEO. However, that doesn't mean much considering the vast majority of people, even those with right-wing political affiliation, have all been celebrating (or at the very least showing an embittered indifference towards) Brian's lead overdose and have actually mocked the views of people like Ben's. Now is not a time to delay much-needed change to a fundamentally broken system with this needless right vs. left back-and-forth that gets us nowhere.

This. Arguing about parties is stupid. It's exactly what politicians want to keep us divided. Instead of focusing on the problem, we have people like Ada who immediately go to the party system to put fault on. I wish people were more dedicated to individual prooblems. We'd be a lot further as a society without left vs. right as a distraction.

I thought this was funny:
